Working Together to create a safe school environment for our LGBT youth
Schools should be a safe environment for all young people, and discrimination of any kind should not be tolerated, from speaking to Parents, Students and Teachers from across Derbyshire we have found that some students don’t feel safe or supported due to there gender and/ or sexuality.
We understand that there are so many different challenges teachers and staff face on a daily basis we want to be able to offer support to them and create an LGBT school network where schools can come together and discuss the needs and wellbeing of there LGBT students and share positive resources and training to promote better understanding and more positive outcomes for the students. We already have some schools who are excited to join this network which is great! We will be holding our first virtual network meeting in the new year.
We at Collective Revolution want to support LGBT students and Teachers in any way we can! If you don’t understand something or feel you need more information we want to provide a safe environment to ask so we can provide information, resources and advice when needed. LGBT discussions should not just be held during Pride Month.
We want to encourage all LGBT groups in schools to be youth led and be accessible to all age groups, we will be happy to provide support and resources as needed. as well as encouraging groups to join be involved with larger projects which can be linked between schools and other youth groups.
Please forward this information to Schools, Students, Teachers and Parents so we can all work together to create some positive changes for students in Derbyshire.
